These positions are located in Acadia National Park in the Maintenance Division.

The typical seasonal period is April to October, but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding.

Anticipated Entry on Duty: April 2026 To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT) Work Practices Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment Dexterity and safety Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc.

Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT): Ability to perform the most difficult and complex laboring tasks, including maintaining buildings, grounds, roads, and trails; breaks up pavement, soil, or concrete; operating heavy power equipment such as lawnmowers, snow blowers and string trimmers; and safely using a variety of hand tools such as shovels, rakes, hammers, saws, rock bars, etc.; cut heavy trees with axe or chainsaw; stacks heavy logs, lumber, and sacks of cement; performing custodial/janitorial work practices and the safe use of cleaning chemicals for buildings in the absence of janitor and as back- up support.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

This is an open continuous vacancy announcement. Applicants will be referred periodically throughout the announcement period.

The first cut-off date is Monday February 23rd, 2026, 11:59 pm (EST). NOTE: OPM has identified this position as eligible for an exception to the typical 1039 hours limit.

This exception allows up to 1560 hours which may extend the season dates noted in the Summary above. See additional information section for details. Performs janitorial duties for campground restrooms.

Operates heavy power equipment such as lawn mowers, UTVs, leaf blowers and a variety of hand tools, to maintain buildings, grounds, roads, trails, etc.

Loads and unloads supplies and materials from trucks, trailers, dollies, etc. Rakes and waters lawns, trims trees and shrubbery, picks up litter, and cleans fire pits.
