Full Job Description

These positions are located in the Trails Maintenance Division at Acadia National Park.

The typical seasonal period is May-October but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: May 2026.

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT) Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean and in order) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc.

(other than blueprints) Ability To Use and Maintain tools and Equipment Dexterity and Safety If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration.

Tasks assigned to me are inspected upon completion by a leader or supervisor for conformance to requirements.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

Routine maintenance and construction of hiking trails, trail drainages (water bars, dips, and culverts), iron pins and handrails, stonework, and trail bridges.

Marking trails with rock cairns and blazes. Moving materials to job sites. Safely and effectively using and properly maintaining hand and power tools required for the job.

Operating and performing minor operator maintenance on light duty motor vehicles within the park.
