Job Description

Summary

This seasonal job with the National Park Service involves supporting the maintenance and management of park facilities, such as tracking assets, updating inventories, and generating reports using computer systems.

It's a temporary role from April to September in Manteo, North Carolina, ideal for someone with hands-on experience in facility upkeep who enjoys outdoor work and helping preserve public lands.

Full Job Description

This position is located in the Facility Management Division.

The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period for National Parks of Eastern North Carolina is April to September but the season may be extended or reduced due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding.

Anticipated Entry on Duty: April 2026. Open to the first 100 applicants or until 01/13/2026 whichever comes first.

To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time).

If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience.

EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors).

This experience includes activities such as providing technical support regarding facility asset management (e.g., managing and/or maintaining facility physical assets and/or infrastructure, database software support, etc.); maintaining computerized inventories of fixed property; analyzing data from a variety of facility maintenance software programs and/or databases; and preparing computerized reports.

ICTAP/CTAP: Current surplus and current or former displaced Federal individuals who have special priority selection rights under the Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) must be well qualified for the position to receive consideration for special priority selection.

Major Duties:

1. Receives, prioritizes, and tracks maintenance and repair requests using computerized maintenance management systems (e.g., FMSS).

Ensures timely communication between field staff, supervisors, and contractors. 2. Updates and manages records related to buildings, utilities, equipment, and infrastructure.

Assists with data entry, asset inventories, and condition assessments to support facility planning and compliance. 3.

Assists with the coordination of facility projects, including scheduling, procurement tracking, and logistical support.

Prepares documentation and reports for project reviews and funding justifications. 4. Prepares purchase requests, tracks supply orders, and maintains inventory of maintenance materials and tools.

Ensures compliance with federal procurement and property management regulations. 5. Communicates with park staff, contractors, and external partners to coordinate access, utilities, and services.

Supports visitor safety and operational continuity during maintenance activities.
