Full Job Description

The purpose of this position is to assist in the development of educational programming and curriculum and to conduct education, interpretation, and community outreach activities.

To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time).

If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience.

To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-6 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors).

This experience includes activities such as planning and implementing a comprehensive, curriculum-based education program serving elementary through college students independently to research, develop, and present education programs and global concepts using a hands-on approach; coordinating and developing training for others involved in conducting place-based learning connected to the sciences or natural/cultural history for student groups.

You must include hours per week worked.

-OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least 1 year of directly related graduate education that demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of this position (such as Education).

You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a COMBINATION of education and experience as described above.

This may be computed by first determining the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages.

The total must be 100 percent to qualify. An example is 9 semester hours of graduate work with major of education and 6 months of qualifying experience.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

Some of the duties you will perform include: Create curriculum-based educational program relevant to the Wilson's Creek National Battlefield interpretive themes to include guided talks/walks, activities, and demonstrations.

Develop and present educational programs using appropriate techniques for age group, topic, and a diverse audience.

Use contemporary education methods and techniques to assist in the evaluation of curriculum materials for appropriateness and effectiveness.

Present a wide variety of formal and informal interpretive experiences delivered in person and through interpretive media and technology.

Perform outreach activities to build collaborative relationships with schools and other organizations. Additional Park Information: Wilson's Creek National Battlefield (U.S.
