Full Job Description

This position is located in Shiloh National Military Park, in the Administration Division. Open to the first 100 applicants or until 03/16/2026 whichever comes first.

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-03/16/2026-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience.

To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time).

If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. SELECTIVE FACTOR: This position requires candidates to be proficient in typing.

In addition to meeting the experience and education requirements below, candidates MUST be able to type 40 words per minute (based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors).

To demonstrate this proficiency, your resume must clearly indicate that you possess the ability to type at least 40 words per minute.

You may also submit a performance test result taken within the last 3 years.

- AND - To qualify for this position at the GS-04 grade level, you must possess at least of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one year of generalized experience.

This experience includes activities such as receiving and directing telephone calls and/or visitors; preparing files for retention and/or disposal; and sorting and/or distributing bulk mail from the post office.

Your resume must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least two years of education above high school level. You must include your transcripts.

-OR- COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Combinations of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.

To compute this percentage, first divide the total months of qualifying experience by 12.

Then divide the number of completed semester hours of education above high school (that are in excess of 30 semester hours) by 60.

Add the two percentages together; the total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. NOTE: Only post-high school education in excess of one-year may be used to qualify for this position.

You must include a copy of your transcripts.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

As an Administrative Support Clerk (OA), you will perform the following duties: Receives and directs telephone calls or visitors. Distributes and controls incoming and outgoing mail.

Reads and forwards incoming correspondence. Manages electronic and hard copy records. Composes correspondence, letters, memoranda, and other documents.

Performs clerical duties such as sorting bulk mail from post office, rerouting misdirected mail, date stamping, counting mail, screening for priority items, and preparing routing and control forms.

Maintains and distributes supplies. Requisitions office supplies, printing support, and related material/services. Sorts incoming fleet management forms or requests.
