Full Job Description

NOTE: OPM has identified this position as eligible for an exception to the typical 1039-hour season.

This exception allows up to 1560 hours which may extend the season(s) reflected in this announcement. See the Additional Information section for details.

The typical season for this position is May - September but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. The anticipated entry on duty is May 2026.

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement 03/06/2026 unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement.

SELECTIVE FACTOR: This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute. You must self-certify your ability to type 40 words per minute during the application process.

Areas considered "near" Denali National Park and Preserve include only: Anderson, Cantwell, Chulitna, Clear, Curry, Denali Park, Ferry, Healy, Kantishna, Lake Minchumina, McKinley Village, Nenana, Nikolai, Petersville, Talkeetna, Tanana, Telida, and Trapper Creek.

-ALSO- The following are the competencies identified for this position.

Applicants are not required to address these competencies in a separate document but are encouraged to include in their resumes experience related to these competencies: Ability to type 40 words per minute.

Skill in the operation of computers. Knowledge of Microsoft software programs, including Word, Excel, and Teams.

Knowledge of correspondence procedures, including letters, forms, and reports; include examples. Knowledge of office filing procedures, including handling of confidential information.

Ability to organize office files and records. Ability to process travel and time and attendance documents. Ability to manage a variety of tasks with multiple interruptions.

Ability to use software programs such as a travel system. Major Duties:

Incumbent will be in the division of Administration at Denali National Park and Preserve.

The incumbent will serve as an administrative assistant for the divisions of Administration and Resources Management. This position serves as a backup to all divisions.

Duties include but are not limited to: Maintains office records and filing. Completes annual property inventory. Receives supplies and materials.

Orders and maintains stock items such as office supplies and safety equipment. Uses computers and appropriate software for data collection, analysis, and collating.

Prepares reports, forms, and tabular material, providing proper spacing, heading, and arrangement for ease of understanding and informational processing.

Receives and distributes incoming mail and prepares outgoing mail for delivery. Anticipates needs for and assembles reports, files, and documents relating to data calls.
