Full Job Description

General Position Description:

This is a temporary, grant-funded position contingent upon continued funding through the South Carolina Pathways Project (SCPP).

Under the guidance of the Director of the Office of Career Readiness and the assigned Team Lead, the SCPP Career Pathways Integration Coordinator serves as a South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) project coordinator for the South Carolina Pathways Project.

This position supports the design, alignment, and implementation of innovative, career-connected course sequences that integrate experiential learning and industry-recognized credentials while satisfying required academic content areas for high school graduation.

The position emphasizes expanding access, participation, and completion for students with disabilities and other special populations by aligning Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Individual Graduation Plans (IGPs), and workforce-aligned Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways.

The role works in close collaboration with the Office of Special Education Services, LEAs, and workforce partners to strengthen systems coherence, remove structural barriers, and support sustainable implementation of innovative course models.

Primary Responsibilities:

Program Design and Course Integration

  • The person in this position will collaborate in the design and revision of innovative CTE courses and integrated course sequences that embed required academic standards and experiential learning components aligned to graduation requirements.
  • Support the development of career-connected course models that satisfy required academic credit areas for graduation while providing industry-relevant experiences and credential attainment opportunities.
  • Identify systemic policy, structural, or scheduling barriers that limit student access to integrated career pathways and propose recommendations for resolution at the state or local level.

Data Analysis and Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze and provide data reports relating to CTE participation, access, and completion for students with disabilities and other special populations.
  • Partner with LEAs to review data on pathway enrollment and credential attainment, identify structural barriers to access or persistence, and support continuous improvement through data-informed guidance.
  • Provide required CTE and workforce data to SCPP participants, grant partners, and evaluation teams to ensure accurate reporting and informed decision-making.

Graduation Alignment and Implementation Support

  • Collaborate with LEAs, school counseling leaders, and SCDE offices to ensure newly developed or revised course sequences clearly satisfy graduation requirements and can be operationalized within local master scheduling systems.
  • Support LEAs in analyzing alignment between IEP transition goals, IGP goals (employment, postsecondary education/training, and independent living), and available CTE pathways and innovative course sequences.
  • Assist LEAs in identifying systemic gaps where available course options may not fully support student transition goals and recommend aligned solutions.

Accessibility

  • Assist with the development of CTE course delivery for students with disabilities, including adjustments that promote accessibility and effective classroom accommodations.
  • Ensure innovative pathway models reflect equitable access and completion strategies for special populations.

Project Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Coordinate and attend meetings and events necessary to complete required SCPP project activities.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with identified partners to increase student outcomes relevant to SCPP and Career Ready Indicators.
  • Present to partners and stakeholders to facilitate implementation and apprise stakeholders regarding project progress and new developments.
  • Review reports provided by project partners and evaluation teams to ensure accuracy, alignment, and effectiveness.

Grant Administration and Sustainability

  • Assist the SCPP Fiscal/Grant Coordinator as necessary with submission of budgets and expenditure reports for the grant and all subgrants.
  • Collaborate to draft, review, and revise required project summaries and grant reports.
  • Research and investigate opportunities for resource development, project expansion, and sustainability.
  • Develop recommendations to institutionalize effective SCPP innovations beyond the life of the grant to ensure long-term systems impact.

Strategic Impact

This position strengthens statewide alignment between career-connected education, special education services, and graduation requirements by supporting innovative course design, systems coherence, and sustainable implementation.

The role contributes to expanding access to high-quality career pathways that prepare students, including students with disabilities, for successful postsecondary education, employment, and independent living outcomes.

This position is located in the Office of Career Readiness.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree and experience in education, management or business.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in education or related field, or bachelor’s degree and more than five years of experience in education.
  • Significant experience with Career and Technical Education program implementation, industry-recognized credentials, and graduation pathway development.
