Summary

This job involves managing school supplies, tracking inventory, and handling equipment maintenance requests to support students and staff at a Department of Defense school in Fort Knox, Kentucky.

Key Requirements

  • Education option for GS-05: Four years above high school in business, secretarial, or technical fields, or a combination of education and experience
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Ability to utilize supply and logistics systems for record management
  • Experience serving as property custodian and maintaining perpetual inventory of school property
  • Familiarity with monitoring safety, security programs, and assisting with inspections

About the Position:This position is with the Department of Defense Education Activity in the Americas Southeast District as part of the Fort Knox Schools Community.

The purpose of this position is to perform material management and support services, providing adequate and timely logistics support to the students, staff, and faculty of a DoDEA school.

This position is covered by the Federal Education Association Stateside Region bargaining unit. Who May Apply: U.S.

Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

GS-05 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing inventory of supplies, utilizing automated systems to record inventory, and assisting with processing work orders for equipment maintenance.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60.

Add the two percentages.

GS-06 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes maintaining inventory records, processing work requests of equipment for maintenance or repair, and preparing reports.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Major Duties:

  • Utilize supply and logistic support systems for management of supply records.
  • Verify and record serial numbers upon receipt of goods.
  • Assure school support requirements are prepared, edited, and submitted for the purchase of supplies and equipment.
  • Serve as property custodian maintaining a perpetual inventory of nonexpendable property and supply records for durable items in the school.
  • Assist in monitoring the school safety and security programs to ensure compliance with program requirements.
  • Assist Area and District personnel with physical security inspections to ensure adequate security measures are in place and adhered to.
  • Assure all supply transactions are recorded in an automated system.
  • Sets or revises stock levels for authorized items available through the supply system for school stockage.
