Job Description

Summary

What You Will Be Doing:

The Department of Education & Early Development (DEED) is seeking a School Finance Specialist II to support Alaska’s school construction and major maintenance programs and to manage state-owned land used by school districts.

This position conducts title research, prepares conveyance documents, manages DEED-owned leases, resolves land-related issues, and coordinates required public notices and stakeholder communication.

The position also administers state-funded school construction and major maintenance projects by preparing and reviewing project agreements, evaluating district submittals and payment requests, determining eligible costs, tracking expenditures, and overseeing grant closeout.

The position supports the annual Capital Improvement Project (CIP) process by reviewing applications, extracting and organizing project data, and preparing materials for statewide prioritization.

Additional responsibilities include advising districts on statutes, regulations, and allowable expenses and preparing reports for department leadership and the Legislature.
