Full Job Description

THIS IS AN INDIANA NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION This position is in the Excepted Service under the authority of Title V, P.L.

114-328, Sections 932 and 1084 (FY17 NDAA) This position is part of the IN JFHQ CAJMTC MCCO, Indiana National Guard under Position Description Number PD#T5889000.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience in scientific or technical work that provided an understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the safety and occupational health field.

Creditable general experience must have demonstrated the achievement of knowledge equivalent to the education described above.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1 year equivalent to at least next lower grade level experience, education, or training performing periodic/unscheduled inspections of base facilities, warehouses, and equipment maintenance operations and evaluated compliance with applicable regulations and hazard system.

Recommended measures and methods to correct safety and occupational health deficiencies.

Participated in planning for testing of munitions, and assured integration of explosive safety criteria in testing procedures.

Reviewed test implementation directives for inclusion of appropriate safety criteria.

Prepared supplements to regulations and manuals for aircraft weapons safety and developed local regulations defining applicable mishap prevention procedures.

  • Serves as the State, Territory, District of Columbia Safety and Occupational Health Specialist in the maintenance of a comprehensive ground and explosives, safety program for the State.
  • Performs inspections of daily operations and workplaces.
  • Conducts safety education.
  • Performs or participates in mishap investigations involving Army personnel, equipment, property, or operations.
  • Reviews purchase, service, and construction contracts.
  • Coordinates with external agencies and prepares and revises safety instructions, guides, and taskers that are relevant to higher Army headquarters, States, contractor, and subordinate installation employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
