About the Position: Serves as the Occupational Safety and Health Safety Program Manager for the 10th Regional Support Group (RSG) Okinawa, Japan and serviced Army activities in Japan.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) applying a wide range of safety and occupational health concepts, principles, and practices such as planning, policies, risk management and programs; 2) troop safety; including explosives, accident investigation, aviation, tactical and exercise safety; AND 3) evaluating a safety and occupational health program.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

Separated Military Members: Resumes will be accepted from members of the Armed Forces who indicate in their applications that they are available for appointment within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.

Military members may be appointed while on terminal/transitional leave, before the effective date of their military retirement/separation.

  • Plans and administers the safety programs consistent with policies and directives established by the 10th Regional Support Group and Higher Headquarters.
  • Conducts promotional campaigns to stimulate interest in accident prevention.
  • Sets safety goals and objectives IAW overall command policy and implements programs to insure they are achieved.
  • Manages troop safety Program including explosives, tactical and exercise safety, systems safety, risk management, aviation safety, war planning and mission support, training, airborne operations, and accident investigation.
  • Procures and distributes to Units/activities promotional and training literature.
