This SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST position, is located within the Safety Office at an Air National Guard unit and is part of the CA 129 RQW.
SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST, GS-0018-09 (Trainee): Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-07 level, in: performing periodic onsite surveys, to determine compliance with applicable occupational safety standards; experience preparing or revising safety instructions and guides; experience advising personnel of appropriate safety and occupational health measures to control or eliminate hazardous operating processes which may cause mishaps; experience investigating mishaps, obtaining statements from witnesses, and photographing mishap scenes; experience recording circumstances of mishaps and extent of injuries, preparing final report(s) of findings with recommendations to correct the unsafe acts or conditions which caused injuries or property damage.
SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST, GS-0018-9/11-11: Must Have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-09 level, in: performing periodic/unscheduled inspections of base facilities, warehouses, and equipment maintenance operations and evaluated compliance with applicable regulations and hazard system; experience recommending measures and methods to correct safety and occupational health deficiencies; experience participating in planning for testing of munitions, and assuring integration of explosive safety criteria in testing procedures; experience reviewing test implementation directives for inclusion of appropriate safety criteria; experience preparing supplements to regulations and manuals for aircraft weapons safety and developed local regulations defining applicable mishap prevention procedures.
TRAINEE POSITION: Applicants not meeting full qualifications for the GS-11 position indicated above may be considered for GS-09 trainee, if qualified.
Statement-of-Difference of qualification requirements for each are indicated.
If appointed as trainee, the selectee may be non-competitively promoted to GS-11 upon meeting full qualifications and recommendations of supervisor.

THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION The primary purpose of the SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST, GS-0018-9/11, is to perform work in a broad range of occupational safety program elements, such as inspections/surveys, assessments, evaluations, mishap investigations, and safety training.
