Full Job Description

MOS: None

Education and Experience: Two (2) years of experience installing or repairing roofs.

Licenses and Certificates: Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state by time of appointment. Some position may require a Commercial Driver’s License.

Special Requirements: Positions requiring a CDL or positions of a safety sensitive nature are subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with federal regulations.

Requirements

Under general supervision, perform a variety of skilled roofing-related tasks.

Qualifications

Repair and maintain roofs of City buildings and facilities. Involves: Inspect roofs to make recommendations for appropriate repair/replace roof.

Select material such as gravel, shingles, neoprene, rubber or elastro-metric to be used for assigned projects. Estimate cost of repairs; select and requisition necessary equipment and related supplies.

Travel to work sites. Remove and install new roofs where needed, install metal flashing as required, and water test to check work to ensure it is watertight.

Perform other maintenance tasks including installation of air conditioning ductwork on top or inside buildings, repair sheet metal work including gutters, downspouts and leader heads.

Oversee all work in progress to ensure quality, timeliness and safety. Inspect completed work to ensure quality and conformance to standards. Maintain cleanliness of tools, equipment and work areas.

Support and actively promote the City’s safety programs.

Perform related duties as required. Involves: Perform duties of coworkers as necessary to ensure continuity of operations during absences. Interact with supervisors, vendors and coworkers. Answer questions and provide accurate information to inquiries. Maintain records of completed work.
