This job involves helping to manage and test Pennsylvania's road systems by operating specialized equipment to evaluate pavement conditions, collecting and analyzing data, and supporting maintenance programs.
It's a hands-on technical role focused on infrastructure like highways, where you'll travel extensively and work with tools for measuring road roughness and friction.
A good fit would be someone with technical experience in data handling or equipment operation who enjoys problem-solving and outdoor fieldwork.

As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work closely with technicians to test and drive specialized devices for statewide pavement evaluation and testing, in addition to location reference system programs.
Your responsibilities will include operating PennDOT pavement test equipment, including devices used for laser roughness and pavement friction testing systems, as well as the location reference system and video log test system.
Along with these tasks, you will also be involved in managing data analysis and reporting systems, conducting research projects related to highway pavements, and maintaining and repairing testing equipment.
In addition, your role will involve performing specialized activities for PennDOT's Automated Data Collection, Inventory, and Analysis Distress Program.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week.
In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
