The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is seeking a dynamic Roadway Programs Coordinator to become part of the Bureau of Maintenance and Operations' Emergency Incident Management Section.
In this pivotal role, you will work closely with various state agencies to enhance the department's emergency management capabilities, particularly in relation to transportation systems and Automated Vehicle Location (AVL) technologies.

In this position you will serve as a department subject matter expert on Automated Vehicle Location (AVL) and other integrated systems of it, providing technical oversight, training, troubleshooting, and operational support to district, county, and central office staff.
The position coordinates installation, maintenance, system upgrades, and vendor support; delivers training materials and programs; monitors system performance and resolves technical issues; manages AVL portal administration and data reporting; supports roadway program data collection and analysis; assists with contract oversight; and oversees inventory, distribution, and lifecycle management of AVL equipment to ensure effective and efficient operation of the department’s fleet technology systems.
Furthermore, you will serve in a backup capacity in the case of staff absence or lack of availability, for the Department’s Area Command and in this capacity is responsible for responding to incidents and emergencies 24/7, as needed.
This may require reporting to PEMA’s Commonwealth Watch and Warning Center (CWWC) or Area Command and working extended shifts.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time.
In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
