Job Description

Summary

This job involves working as a diver for the U.S. Navy in Washington state, where you'll perform underwater maintenance, repairs, and inspections on ships and submarines.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a RIGGING WORKER (DIVER) in the Diving Operations Division (Code 760), Lifting & Handling Department of PSNS and IMF.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job.

  • You will be performing underwater ships husbandry on waterborne Navy vessels.
  • You will use decompression tables, open-circuit scuba and surface supplied dive equipment.
  • You will install and remove cofferdams, blanks, anchors, anchor chain, cleaning and inspecting propellers, moving large heavy items underwater using cranes and rigging gear.
  • You will be repairing and replacing various ships components.
  • You will perform salvage diving to retrieve items from the water using various methods like lift bags, cranes, davits, and etc.
  • You will perform preventive maintenance in accordance with Navy 3M program.
  • You will operate dive boats, hydraulic systems and all diver support equipment.
