Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves helping Iowa taxpayers with their tax questions and filings over the phone, email, or in person, including troubleshooting simple issues like login problems and explaining basic tax rules.
You'll interview people to understand their situations and guide them on meeting state tax obligations, while escalating tougher cases to experts.

The Iowa Department of Revenue’s Alcohol & Tax Operations Division is currently seeking a Revenue Service Specialist 2 to join their Taxpayer Services team.
The Operations Division functions as the central hub for both alcohol and tax-related processes and procedures.
This division is responsible for administering the transportation and distribution of wholesale alcoholic liquor to more than 2,000 privately-owned retailers across Iowa, ensuring they are delivered on time and in good condition.
Additionally, this division manages tax documents, payments and mail, as well as offering invaluable assistance to taxpayers for filing requirements and procedures.
In this position you will be responsible for:

Knowledge of customer service principles and processes for providing customer services, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluating customer satisfaction
Active listening skills such as giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times
Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data
Knowledge of clerical procedures such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology
