Full Job Description

This is a temporary, non-merit position. Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise.

This position starts at $12.76 per hour.

If you are interested in entering the health care field, this is a great position to start in. The Iowa Veterans Home is looking for temporary Resident Aides to assist on the unit. Hours are typically 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm working 30 hours in a pay period and every other weekend.

As a Resident Aide, you will help residents by changing sheets, making bed, refill water pictures, refill treatment bucket, put away clean laundry.

Duties also include:
- Assisting with passing meal trays and assisting during meal time.
- Provides support and physical assistance to residents by participating/initiating additional activities such as playing cards, table games, reading, crafts, writing letters for residents and taking residents for walks or outside for fresh air by wheelchair.
- Escorts or participates with resident activities, writing letters for residents, taking residents for walks along with other assigned duties.
