The SCCAP Eligibility Specialist performs general casework duties by determining clients' initial and continuing eligibility for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits through the South Carolina Combined Application Program (SCCAP); acts as team member for all SCCAP activities; completes special assignments, correspondence, agency logs, etc.
in a timely manner.
Performs intensive caseworker eligibility management services for the SNAP/SCCAP program.
Reviews applications and re-certification documents to obtain information to determine appropriateness and completeness of forms submitted.
Assists in determining or redetermine client eligibility by applying Federal regulations and State policy and procedures for the SCCAP program.
Computes mathematical data accurately for benefit eligibility/allotment and enters all social and financial data in mainframe eligibility system to make final determination and authorization for benefits.
Refers questionable documents to SCCAP worker for the purpose of research. Processes SCCAP alerts.
Provides case management with all communication and contacts with county administrative staff as it relates to SCCAP applications/re-certification.
Ensures that accuracy levels are maintained and that cases are properly registered in CHIP, categorized in SCOSA, assigned and CARCed in CHIP within the specified time frames set by federal and state regulations.
Ensure that processing timeliness rates are kept at or above Federal standard of 95% for the SCCAP Processing Unit.
Maintains documentation for auditing purposes as required by agency policy in a confidential, timely and accurate manner.
Prepares supporting documents for Fair Hearings and attends Fair Hearings as required.
