Job Description

Summary

This role involves guiding and improving the use of assessment tools to help child welfare workers plan better for families in need, including reviewing cases, training staff, and ensuring everything follows agency rules.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and four (4) years of experience in social work, management, business administration, administrative services, or public administration
  • Master's Degree and two (2) years of experience in social work, management, business administration, administrative services, or public administration
  • Expertise in implementing and monitoring the Family Advocacy and Support Tool (FAST) for case planning and safety decisions
  • Conduct monthly quality reviews of FAST assessments and provide consultation to ensure compliance with GPS values, guiding principles, and core practice skills
  • Provide training, coaching, and technical assistance to county staff, including assessing needs and conducting trainings
  • Monitor data from CAPSS and other resources for FAST and CANS compliance, including approvals, denials, and revisions
  • Maintain child welfare certification with 20 hours of annual training and apply trauma-informed principles to support staff and families

Job Duties:

The Assessment & Planning Coordinator the Program Coordinator II (Assessment and Planning Coordinator) will serve as the practice expert for the daily implementation of the Family Advocacy and Support Tool (FAST) that is used to support case planning and safety decisions, facilitate quality improvement initiatives, and to allow for the monitoring of outcomes of services.

This position coordinates and supports the service delivery process for FAST and Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) compliance and quality.


  • Conduct monthly quality reviews of the Family Advocacy and Support Tool (FAST) and provide consultation to counties to ensure that the assessments are being completed according to GPS values, guiding principles and core practice skills.

  • Provide training, coaching, and technical assistance to county staff according to GPS values, guiding principles and core practice skills by regularly meeting with county leadership to assess training needs and conducting identified trainings.

  • Monitor and review data provided by CAPSS and other resources to ensure compliance with submitting and resubmitting FAST within the established agency's requirements.

  • Understand the performance requirements for the Family Advocacy and Support Tool (FAST) and Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) according to policies and procedures.

  • Update and maintain training curriculum, modules, and hand-outs to reflect current policies and procedures.

  • Approve, deny or return the CANS assessment for revision timely according to policy time frames.

  • Provide case consultation around how to integrate the results of FAST into case planning and practice.

  • Maintain child welfare certification. Completes 20 hours of training yearly to include certifications that are required yearly. is encouraged to attend and participate to assist with skills and development growth.

  • Maintain an active routine of self-care and pursues support when necessary to minimize the threat of secondary trauma to physical and mental health. Understands the impact of trauma on families and secondary trauma on child welfare staff and applies principles to support families and staff.

  • Performs other job duties as required.

Requirements

A Bachelor's Degree and four (4) years of experience in any combination of social work, management, business administration, administrative services or public administration.

A Master's Degree and two (2) years of experience in any combination of social work, management, business administration, administrative services or public administration.
