Summary

This role involves supervising nurses who assess and screen people for Medicaid programs that help with long-term care outside of nursing homes, such as waivers for ventilators or children's personal care.

The nurse also trains staff at hospitals and care facilities, handles quality checks, and steps in for the area administrator when needed.

This position is located in Community Long-Term Care, Richland County.

Are you the One? We are looking for a Registered Nurse, Non-Institutional, who will work under general supervision of Area Administrator. Acts as Nursing supervisor for the local CLTC office(s) and assumes the duties and responsibilities of the Area Administrator as needed. Supervises and trains other nurse consultants to conduct pre-admission screening and other activities for persons seeking Medicaid sponsored nursing home placement and for persons seeking admission to various Medicaid waivers and programs such as Community Choices, HIV-AIDS, HASCI, Ventilator, Children's Personal care, TEFRA, and PASRR. Provides training for PASRR completion and assessment completion to staff of long-term care facilities and hospitals. Performs, trains and supervises other nurse consultants in performing all initial and ongoing oversight and medical consultation activities for Ventilator Waiver and Children's Personal Care. Travel to location of assigned cases is necessary for this position. Maintains knowledge of all CLTC programs and related systems including Phoenix information system and assists other CLTC offices with essential job functions when scheduling permits. Trains long term care facilities, hospitals, and other community entities related to CLTC programs and processes. Reviews and assigns applications statewide to appropriate staff; coordinates and monitors as needed.

  • Performs fundamental supervisory functions in accordance with Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) standards.
  • Performs training activities and direct supervision.

  • Provides consultation to all CLTC program areas.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance Activities.
  • Performs Pre-admission Activities.
  • Performs PASRR activities.
  • Promotes Collaboration and Effective Communication.
  • Performs Children's Personal Care program activities.
  • Performs and assists in coordination of emergency/disaster shelter duty activities as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

A diploma in Nursing and one (1) year of experience as a Registered Nurse; or

An associate Degree in Nursing and one (1) year as a Registered Nurse.

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Ability to multi-task within time frames and prioritize cases utilizing effective time management skills. Exhibits computer proficiency. Must be able to perform web-based software functions (key participant reports, update documents, etc.).

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Current licensure by the State of South Carolina Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.

Additional Requirements:
  • Occasional overnight travel.
  • Requires holder to drive routinely.
  • Sitting or standing for long periods of time.
  • Lifting requirements: 20 lbs.
  • Valid Driver's License



Qualifications

  • Considerable knowledge of social, mental and cultural aspects of illness.
  • Interpersonal skills for developing and maintaining participant, family and community relationships.
  • Written and verbal skills in evaluating participants' conditions and needs and interpreting and explaining CLTC program goals to participants, families and other community contacts. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
  • The ability to multi-task within time frames and prioritize cases utilizing effective time management skills.
  • Possess and apply computer proficiency.
  • Skills in assessment, care planning and case management for long term care patients.
  • Gerontological preparation desirable.
  • NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Current licensure by the South Carolina State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.
