This position provides nursing care to individuals in designated units with responsibility for maintaining the nursing needs:

Responsible for maintaining acute medical issues for the facility in the absence of the Nurse Supervisor.

Management of medications and procedures according to pharmacy and nursing procedure guidelines. Actively documents and participates in the rehabilitation programs of individuals.

Functions as the health care coordinator of assigned units with responsibilities outlined in the Health Care Guidelines.

  • Assists in planning and providing nursing care with responsibility for the assessment of nursing needs and the initiation of nursing intervention(s) according to all licensing and certification requirements.
  • Provides guidance and develops nursing staff to ensure quality activity, care, and treatment for all individuals.
  • Assesses needs of individuals, identifying obvious symptoms of physical or emotional illness, formulates and executes a plan of care, and evaluates outcomes. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team on the integration of the nursing care plan in the Individual Support Plan (ISP).
  • Performs clinical skills in a competent manner and ensures a clean and safe environment. Provides training and acts as a resource for nursing staff.
  • Performs and participates in activities as otherwise assigned by the Nurse Supervisor.
  • The position for this posting is located at Coastal Regional Center, an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF-IID) of BHDD-OIDD located in Summerville, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

    This position is eligible for up to $6.25/hour shift differential for applicable shifts!
    Sign-on bonus for eligible candidates will be distributed after one, six, and twelve months of successful continuous Full-Time employment.

    Requirements

    Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Licensure as a Registered Nurse by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina.

    Qualifications

    Knowledge of the techniques and practices of the nursing profession. Knowledge of medical and nursing terminology.Ability to adhere to standing orders, policies, and procedures. Ability to plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.Ability to establish and maintain the confidence and cooperation of individuals. Ability to interact with individuals in aculturally competent and professional manner. Ability to prepare educational and training materials for nursing careprograms. Knowledge of administrative methods and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively both orally andinwriting. Ability to appropriately respond to emergency situations. Ability to function as a team member. Ability toinstruct, supervise and direct the work of paraprofessional staff. General knowledge of individuals with intellectual disabilities. Ability to work in a group home like setting or ICF. Physical ability to work with individuals who may bephysically aggressive or medically fragile.
