This job involves leading efforts to clean up recycling programs in Portland by tracking contamination levels, working with teams and contractors to gather data, and updating city rules to help meet a goal of under 10% contamination by 2030.
It's part of a state initiative to modernize recycling and reduce plastic pollution.
A good fit would be someone organized with experience in environmental projects, data analysis, and teamwork in sustainability roles.

Job Appointment: Full Time, Limited Duration.
Persons appointed to limited term positions will be designated as limited duration employees whose appointment shall not exceed two (2) years except for the extension of grants or funding from outside sources.Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m.
- 5 p.m. Flexibility in schedule is negotiable.Work Location: Hybrid. This position reports to The Vanport Building, 1810 SW 5th Avenue. Remote work must be performed within Oregon or Washington.

Position Summary
The Recycling Improvement and Evaluation Coordinator will focus on City of Portland projects and programs designed to reduce contamination in the mixed recycling system as a part of the Oregon Plastic Pollution and Recycling Modernization Act.
This position will report to the Sustainable Materials and Waste Policy Manager.
As a Recycling Improvement and Evaluation Coordinator, you will:
Travel Requirements: This position will need to travel in the field to inspect evaluation methods and understand contamination reduction interventions.
