This job involves overseeing recreational programs at outdoor pools in San Antonio, including planning activities, managing staff, and ensuring smooth operations during summer and extended seasons.
A good fit would be someone with experience in recreation or aquatics who enjoys working with the public, supervising teams, and handling event coordination in a dynamic outdoor environment.
Under general direction, is responsible for assisting with the planning and administration of municipal recreational programs.
Accountable for technical work in a recreational specialty, and administrative work in assisting in the planning and promotional phases of the programs.
Exercises direct supervision over assigned staff.
Approves, coordinates, implements and reviews program activities and special events at centers.Schedules rooms, recreation areas, facilities and fields for community use when requested.Promotes and refers citizens to community programs that best meet their needs.Assumes responsibility for equipment and supplies.
Keeps inventory current, and orders new materials and equipment, occasionally lifting and carrying equipment weighing 10-15 pounds.Assumes responsibility for the building and grounds, including completing maintenance reports and making suggestions for new facilities, when needed.Speaks at Community Clubs, PTA, and other organizations on recreation programs.Assists in preparing, reviewing, monitoring, and compiling program budgets.Plans, organizes, promotes, reviews and directs municipal leagues and tournaments in individual and team sports, to include conducting registration sessions; setting dates and times; determining sites and other related responsibilities, depending on area of assignment.Plans, organizes, promotes, reviews, and directs aquatic programs, swimming meets, lifesaving instruction sessions, and other related responsibilities, depending on area of assignment.Supervises, trains and evaluates assigned staff.Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.Participates in continuous in-service skills training.
Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job.
One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months.
One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.
