Full Job Description

This position is located at Fort Polk, Louisiana wit the Home of Heroes Recreation Center.

Lead the Home of Heroes Recreation Center and Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers (BOSS) team at Fort Polk, a program dedicated to enhancing Soldier quality of life through community service, recreation and leisure events, and advocacy for single and unaccompanied service members.

Qualified applicants will be forwarded to management on a bi-weekly or as needed basis. Resumes must be two pages (or less).

Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Directly related work experience that provided the applicant the ability, knowledge, skills, principles, methods and techniques to plan, organize, coordinate, supervise and evaluate a recreational program.

Highly Preferred Qualifications: 1. Two (2) years work experience with FMWR programs or similar activities. 2. Work experience preparing program briefs, situation reports, and other presentations.

AND Work experience with financial management, long range calendars, preparing marketing plans, and coordinating with partnering programs such as Sexual Harassment/Assault Prevention (SHARP)/ Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)/ Substance Abuse Program (SAP).

  • Serves as the manager for the Home of Heroes Recreation Center and may serve in a dual capacity as advisor to the Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers program.
  • Prepares programs for requested Soldier interests and planning and executing of community special events that respond to the needs and interest of the military population.
  • Monitors and maintains electronic gaming equipment, big screen TVs, etc; coordinates inter and intra garrison competitions and tournaments.
  • Develops, manages, plans and administers recreation activities programs to support eligible personnel, submitting post-evaluation and cost analysis of programs.
  • Performs full range of supervisory duties for subordinate employees. Plans and coordinates training for staff.Conducts periodic staff meetings and takes appropriate action for employee misconduct as well as recommending employee for awards.
