Job Description

Summary

This job is for a recreation assistant at a shooting range in Fort Bliss, Texas, where you'll teach safety rules, check IDs, maintain the area, and help with general operations at the Rod and Gun Club.

It's ideal for someone with hands-on experience in firearm handling and public-facing roles, like working at a range or outdoor facility.

You'll need to get certified in range safety quickly and enjoy working with people who love shooting sports.

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Must have experience with firing range operations and firearm safety and possess work experience which involved dealing with the general public.

May have cashier skills.

Must be able to obtain current Installation Range Certification Card, National Rifle Association (NRA) Range Safety Officer Certification, or equivalent certification within 60 days of entrance on duty.

NOTE: The above minimum qualifications must be described within the duties of previous work experience listed on the applicant's resume and/or supporting documents.

A copy of all documents must be submitted at the time of application. Major Duties:

  • Provide instructions on rules and safety of the ranges, ensure proper handling of firearms and ammunition. Ensure areas and equipment is account for and properly secured.
  • Ensure proper handling of firearms and ammunition. Know proper procedures of running a range (hot, cold, cease fire, etc.).
  • Clean and maintain the ranges (pull weeds, pick up brass, sweep, remove trash and other required cleaning).
  • Check to make sure all patrons have the proper ID to be shooting on the ranges.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
