Summary

This job involves running the daily operations of a travel and ticket office on a military base, where you'll help customers plan trips, book accommodations, and get tickets for events and attractions.

About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Information, Ticket, & Travel (ITT) office in McGuire AFB, New Jersey. Who May Apply: Open to everyone.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience: Experience in one or more functions of the travel industry which demonstrate the following: (1) A practical knowledge of the tour and travel industry: (2) A knowledge of recreational activities, rules and procedures: (3) The ability to plan and organize recreational activities for groups of people.

Applicant must have knowledge of basic computer operations Window-based operating systems. Must possess good communication and interpersonal relations skills as well as good telephone etiquette.

Must be able to read, speak, and write English. Applicant must be able to accomplish multiple tasks simultaneously such as operating a computer and telephone.

Must satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Major Duties:

Plans and conducts day-to-day operations of the Information, Ticket, & Travel (ITT) program which serves a large volume of local visitors/transient customers who visit the Lakehurst area.

As a customer representative in the ITT office, provides all facets of traveling counseling to customers.

Provides detailed information regarding schedules, transportation options, various types of accommodations and attractions.

Arranges for all aspects of travel including air travel, cruises, rental cars, hotel accommodations, admissions and recreation activities for customers.

Develops complete itineraries based on requests from customers. Researches information using computer-based, interactive software.

Reviews itineraries and other arrangements with customer prior to finalizing arrangements.

Arranges for charges using the government IMPACT when customers are unable to utilize personal credit cards for transactions.

Responsible for researching and acquiring tickets to sporting events, Broadway shows and theme/amusement parks.

Assists supervisor with originating publicity information and forwards to Marketing for distribution.

Assures after trip comment cards are completed by participants for use by management to determine trends and/or problem/improvement areas.

Responsible for monthly ticket inventory, ensuring ticket accountability is maintained. Accomplishes monthly IMPACT statement and submits to NAF Accounting Office.

Operates cash register, accepts payments from customers, complete daily cashier reports, and turns over to supervisor for verification.

Assists supervisor with the preparation of daily and monthly operational reports detailing business transactions such as leisure travel, tickets sold, sales figures, and net profit.

Routine work is performed independently, and unique problems or situations are brought to supervisor's attention. Performs other duties as assigned.
