This job involves running an arts and crafts facility on an Air Force base, where you'll create custom engravings and designs using computer tools, sell craft supplies and merchandise to customers, and handle cash transactions.

No strict education is needed, but hands-on experience in design or retail is a plus.
About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Arts & Crafts Facility. This is a Flexible position (0-40 hours per week).

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience: Working knowledge of computer operation and graphic art techniques. layout and design. Experience in design and art techniques of at least one year is desirable.
Must have experience in clerical, office, cash handling, inventory or retail sales store work.
Experience must demonstrate knowledge of proper cash handling procedures, the ability to resolve common arithmetic problems used when receiving payment from customers.
and the ability to operate a cash register. Must be able to read, speak, and write clearly and accurately in English. Must be able to spot errors in grammar and spelling.
Must possess skill in dealing with the public. Must be physically able to lift and carry items up to and including 50 pounds. Major Duties:
Operates computerized laser engraving system, using computer program to compute measurements for graphic layouts and designs for signs, nametags, and other items.
Operates engraving controller to calculate depths and speed of mechanized routers. Using available software creates lettering. layouts. and designs for imprinting on metal, mugs, and Tshirts.
Writes orders for customers for custom printing and engraving. using established pricing guidelines. Operates lettering machine, heat press, metal and plastic shears, and sublimation machine.
Cleans metal plates and glues finished plates onto plaques. Uses video color system to produce photographic images which are sent to a processor.
Images are converted to transfers for fusing to metal or ceramic surfaces. Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment. Recommends new equipment for use in the facility.
Performs over-the-counter selling of a variety of merchandise which may include but is not limited to the following: plaques, trophies. desk sets, art & craft supplies, general merchandise.
and other miscellaneous items. Responsible for operating the cash register. collects money. makes change and issues receipts.
At the end of each shift, closes out the cash register, completes required paperwork and submits entire package to supervisor.
Explains use of various products, answers questions concerning various aspects of products, and assists patrons with special orders. Records sales, makes change, and wraps or bags merchandise.
Assists with inventories of supply and resale items. Prices merchandise according to pricing guides. replenishes stock as required, and assists with inventories.
Performs housekeeping duties in sales and storage areas. Responsible for the security of work area. Properly trains new employees on use of equipment. Performs other related duties as assigned.
