About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Fitness Center, Air Force Academy, Colorado. This position does not include benefits.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience: Experience in clerical or other office work of any kind that demonstrated the ability to perform the duties of the position.

Practical knowledge of recreational activities, rules and procedures and equipment. Ability to resolve common math problems and make change when receiving payments from customers.

Skill and use in maintenance of various recreational facilities and equipment is desirable. Must be able to communicate both orally and in writing.

Requires daily physical exertion and requires an above average physical dexterity and ability in a variety of sports activities in order to demonstrate and teach participants.

Duties are performed inside and outside with exposure to excessive heat, cold, dampness or chilling, and humidity. Must be able to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds.

Must be able to successfully pass the Fitness Fundamentals class at the first available opportunity. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Major Duties:

Performs general operational duties in support of the Fitness and Sports Center. Operating a front desk operation. Ensures only authorized patrons use the facility and equipment.

Maintains reservations system for sports courts and fields; issues and receives equipment.

Maintains indoor facility to include annotating hourly head counts and reporting all safety infractions and potential mishaps. Ensures check-out items are clean and in good repair.

Inventories, restocks and displays check-out times; provides equipment manager with a list of re-order needs.

Operates a point of sales system; performs receiving and disbursing cashier duties; accepts payments and makes change; may prepare and issue change funds, bank deposits and daily reports.

Properly safeguards funds. Ensures reserved areas are ready for use by customers. Ensures lockers are clean and operable. Accounts for towels and uniforms received from the contractor.

Cleans locker rooms and equipment as needed, returns weight equipment and accessories to proper racks and locations, and addresses policy violations when observed.

Washes and dries towels and uniforms as needed.

Assists in setting up facilities, grounds and equipment for programs and special functions and performs minor maintenance or repairs on equipment as needed.

Provides assistance to facility users by explaining function and features available. Performs other duties as assigned.
