Job Description
Summary
This entry-level job trains you to become a lifeguard at a military base's aquatics center, where you'll learn to supervise swimmers, respond to emergencies, and help with water safety programs.
It's ideal for someone who enjoys working around water, is a strong swimmer, and wants hands-on training in a supportive team environment.
No prior lifeguard experience is needed, but you'll need to complete certifications quickly after starting.
Key Requirements
- Ability to swim proficiently and participate in lifeguard training
- Complete mandatory certifications within 30 days of employment, including Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED from American Red Cross or equivalent (e.g., Star Guard, YMCA, ELLIS)
- Participate in all required training such as emergency rescue drills and action plan simulations
- Assist in conducting aquatic swimming and water survival training per Army standards (ATP 7-22.01)

Full Job Description
This position is located at the Aquatics facilities which is a part of Fort Benning Family & Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR). Incentives and Bonuses Incentives and bonuses will not be paid.
Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.
A qualified candidate must possess the following: Must be able to swim and participate in the lifeguard certifications. Major Duties:
- Note: This is a training position for a certified Lifeguard. Must participate in all required training (emergency rescue drills, emergency action plan simulations). Mandatory certifications must be complete within 30 calendar days of employment.
- Training: Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS).
- American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional; CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED); First Aid.
- Responsible for assisting in the conduct of aquatic swimming and water survival training according to ATP 7-22.01 as of October 2020.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
