Job Description

Summary

This entry-level job trains you to become a lifeguard at a military base's aquatics center, where you'll learn to supervise swimmers, respond to emergencies, and help with water safety programs.

It's ideal for someone who enjoys working around water, is a strong swimmer, and wants hands-on training in a supportive team environment.

No prior lifeguard experience is needed, but you'll need to complete certifications quickly after starting.

Key Requirements

  • Ability to swim proficiently and participate in lifeguard training
  • Complete mandatory certifications within 30 days of employment, including Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED from American Red Cross or equivalent (e.g., Star Guard, YMCA, ELLIS)
  • Participate in all required training such as emergency rescue drills and action plan simulations
  • Assist in conducting aquatic swimming and water survival training per Army standards (ATP 7-22.01)
  • Submit a resume of two pages or less demonstrating relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities
  • Perform other assigned duties at the aquatics facility

Full Job Description

This position is located at the Aquatics facilities which is a part of Fort Benning Family & Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR). Incentives and Bonuses Incentives and bonuses will not be paid.

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Must be able to swim and participate in the lifeguard certifications. Major Duties:

  • Note: This is a training position for a certified Lifeguard. Must participate in all required training (emergency rescue drills, emergency action plan simulations). Mandatory certifications must be complete within 30 calendar days of employment.
  • Training: Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS).
  • American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional; CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED); First Aid.
  • Responsible for assisting in the conduct of aquatic swimming and water survival training according to ATP 7-22.01 as of October 2020.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
