Summary

This entry-level job trains you to become a lifeguard at the recreational pools on Fort Carson Army base in Colorado, starting with close supervision and hands-on training in water safety.

You'll learn rescue techniques, first aid, and emergency response while working under guidance until you're certified.

It's ideal for motivated beginners who enjoy working outdoors, staying active, and helping others in a community setting.

Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Must be able to swim and participate in the lifeguard certifications.

NOTE: The above minimum qualifications must be described within the duties of previous work experience listed on the applicant's resume and/or supporting documents.

A copy of all documents must be submitted at the time of application. Major Duties:

  • Works under close supervision wherein the work is closely reviewed/monitored and detailed guidance provided. Must participate in all required training (emergency rescue drills, emergency action plan simulations).
  • Mandatory certifications must be complete within 30 calendar days of employment, after which the incumbent will be reassigned to lifeguard duties at an aquatic facility.
  • Training includes lifeguarding, First Aid (American Red Cross or equivalent like Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS) and American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional rescuer or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED).
  • For Water Parks upgrade the certification to: 'Waterpark Lifeguarding and First Aid; CPR/PR/AED' (American Red Cross)
  • For facilities using Oxygen Administration, the Oxygen Administration certification (American Red Cross "Oxygen Administration" or equivalent training like from the Fire Department) must be obtained within two weeks of reporting for duty.
