Job Description

Summary

This job is for a lifeguard at the pools on Fort Campbell Army base in Kentucky, where you'll watch over swimmers, enforce safety rules, and handle emergencies like rescues and first aid.

It's a flexible part-time role with no benefits, ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, stays calm under pressure, and is available for early morning shifts.

A good fit would be a certified lifeguard who's reliable and passionate about water safety and community recreation.

Key Requirements

  • Possess and maintain Lifeguard certification from American Red Cross or equivalent (e.g., Star Guard, YMCA, ELLIS)
  • Hold American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED certification or American Heart Association equivalent
  • Maintain First Aid certification from American Red Cross or equivalent
  • Obtain Oxygen Administration certification within two weeks of starting if required for the facility
  • Availability for Monday-Friday 0445-1315 shift is highly preferred
  • Ability to perform rescues, administer first aid, and conduct pool surveillance
  • Willingness to attend all required training and maintain pool cleanliness and safety

Full Job Description

This position is located at Fort Campbell, KY - MWR Aquatics. This is a "Flexible" position (0-40 hours) with no eligibility to participate in the NAF Employee Benefits Plans.

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Possesses and maintains the following certifications: Lifeguard and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e.

Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS) American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED) First Aid *Availability for Mon-Fri 0445-1315 shift will be considered Highly Preferred during the interview process*.

In addition, for facilities that use Oxygen Administration "O2 bottles" the O2 Administration certification (American Red Cross "Oxygen Administration or installation offered training (i.e.

  • Serves as a lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools and works under the direction of the Installation Aquatics Program Manager. Employs safety rules for the protection of the pool guests
  • Provides pool area surveillance and responds to emergencies; rescues pool patrons and administers first aid as required. Assists in conducting aquatic swimming and water survival training or assisting with American Red Cross swim lessons.
  • Attends all directed training. Assists in maintaining pool, and area clean and free from any hazards. Performs water tests and reports results to the leader on duty. Informs swimmers regarding safety/health/admission rules and procedures.
  • Warns patrons who disregard safety rules, and follows facility Standard Operating Procedures for disciplinary actions. Assists in coaching or preparing the competitive and non-competitive swimming programs as required.
  • Maintains daily logs, reports and records as required. Performs other duties as assigned.
