Job Description

Summary

This job is for a lifeguard at an aquatics center and water park on a military base in Kentucky, where you'll watch over swimmers, handle emergencies, and help with swim lessons and pool maintenance.

Key Requirements

  • Possess and maintain American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification or nationally recognized equivalent (e.g., Star Guard, YMCA, ELLIS)
  • Hold American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED certification or equivalent (e.g., American Heart Association CPR/AED)
  • Maintain First Aid certification from American Red Cross or equivalent
  • Ability to provide pool surveillance, respond to emergencies, perform rescues, and administer first aid
  • Assist in conducting aquatic swimming, water survival training per ATP 7-22.01, and American Red Cross swim lessons as an aide
  • Perform pool maintenance tasks, including cleaning, hazard removal, and periodic water testing
  • Participate in required training, such as on-the-job training, emergency rescue drills, and safety simulations

Full Job Description

This position is located at Anderson Aquatics and Water Park. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid.

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Possesses and maintains the following certifications: Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e.

Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS); American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional; CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED); First Aid.

Major Duties:

  • Serves as a lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools and works under the direction of the Installation Aquatics Program Manager.
  • Provides maximum pool area surveillance and responds to emergencies; rescues pool patrons and administers first aid as required.
  • Responsible for assisting in the conduct of aquatic swimming and water survival training according to ATP 7-22.01 as of October 2020 and assisting with American Red Cross swim lessons as an Aide. Attend aquatics and/or safety training as directed.
  • Assists in maintaining pool, and area clean and free from any hazards. Performs periodic water tests and reports results to the pool leader on duty. Provides information to swimmers regarding safety/health/admission rules and procedures.
  • Lifeguards will participate in any required training (on-the-job training emergency rescue drills, emergency action plan simulations).
