Job Description

Summary

This job is for a lifeguard at an indoor pool on a military base in Texas, where you'll watch over swimmers, enforce safety rules, and keep the area clean and hazard-free.

You'll also help with water testing, coaching swim programs, and basic cashier duties.

It's a great fit for someone who enjoys working with people, stays calm in emergencies, and has strong swimming and safety skills.

Key Requirements

  • Possess and maintain Lifeguarding certification from American Red Cross or equivalent (e.g., Star Guard, YMCA, ELLIS)
  • Hold American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED certification or equivalent (e.g., American Heart Association)
  • Maintain First Aid certification
  • Ability to enforce safety rules and warn patrons tactfully
  • Experience or willingness to assist in maintaining pool cleanliness and performing water tests
  • Capability to participate in coaching swimming programs and handling basic money as a cashier
  • Strong swimming abilities and comfort in water environments

Full Job Description

This position is located at: Abrams Indoor Pool - Fort Hood, Texas. Fort Hood offers a variety of aquatic activities for service members, their families, and other authorized personnel.

From swimming lessons to outdoor water fun, there are several options to cool off and enjoy the water. This is an open continuous announcement.

All qualified applicants will be forwarded to management on a weekly or as needed basis. Resumes must be two pages (or less).

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Possesses and maintains the following certifications: Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e.

Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS); American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional; CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED); First Aid.

  • Serves as a lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools and works under the direction of the Installation Aquatics Program Manager. Employs safety rules for the protection of the pool guests.
  • Assists in maintaining pool, and area clean and free from any hazards. Performs periodic water tests and reports results to the pool leader on duty. Provides information to swimmers regarding safety/health/admission rules and procedures.
  • Tactfully warns patrons who repeatedly disregard safety rules, and follows facility Standard Operating Procedures for disciplinary actions. Assists in coaching or preparing the competitive and non-competitive swimming programs as required.
  • Maintains daily logs, reports and records as required. Will participate in any required training (on-the-job training emergency rescue drills, emergency action plan simulations. Money handling and maintaining control practice as a cashier.
