Job Description

Summary

This job is for a lifeguard at pools on a military base in Maryland, where you'll watch swimmers, respond to emergencies, and keep the area safe and clean.

It's ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors or indoors near water and has the right safety training to handle rescues and first aid.

No prior experience is required beyond certifications, making it a good entry-level role for responsible individuals who stay calm under pressure.

Key Requirements

  • Possess and maintain American Red Cross Lifeguarding and First Aid certification (or equivalent from Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS)
  • Hold American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED certification (or American Heart Association equivalent)
  • Obtain Waterpark Lifeguarding and First Aid certification for water park facilities
  • Acquire Oxygen Administration certification within two weeks if the facility uses O2 bottles
  • Demonstrate relevant experience in lifeguarding, emergency response, or pool maintenance on resume
  • Upload all certificates at the time of application
  • Keep resume to two pages or less, clearly showing skills and abilities

This position is located at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Resumes must be two pages (or less).

Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Possesses and maintains the following certifications: Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e.

Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS); American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional; CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED); First Aid.

For Water Parks upgrade the certification to: 'Waterpark Lifeguarding and First Aid; CPR/PR/AED' (American Red Cross)In addition, for facilities that use Oxygen Administration "O2 bottles" the O2 Administration certification (American Red Cross "Oxygen Administration or installation offered training (i.e.

Fire Dept.) must be obtained within two weeks of reporting for duty. ***Experience must be reflected on resume to receive credit. *** Certificates must be uploaded at the time of application.

Major Duties:

  • Serves as a lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools and works under the direction of the Installation Aquatics Program Manager.
  • Provides maximum pool area surveillance and responds to emergencies; rescues pool patrons and administers first aid as required.
  • Assists in maintaining pool, and area clean and free from any hazards.
  • Maintains daily logs, reports and records as required.
  • Performs periodic water tests and reports results to the pool leader on duty.
