About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) assigned to the Arnold Golf Course.

Medium - heavy physical work, ability to lift, move, carry items up to 50 pounds or greater, prolonged standing.

Flexible position, no min guaranteed hrs (meaning you could work between 0-40 hours per week depending upon facility need or weather conditions), no standard benefits.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience: Experience in clerical or other office related work desired. Basic computer skills are required.

Practical knowledge of recreational activities, rules, and procedures desired but not required. Ability to safeguard and handle cash.

Skill in the use and maintenance of various recreational equipment and facilities are desirable; however, no experience is required. Must be able to follow simple to moderate instructions.

Must be able to communicate both orally and in writing. Major Duties:

Operations and maintenance of the Fitness Center and Sports Programs, Golf Course and Outdoor Recreation Programs; Performs and/or assists other recreation assistants or specialists in the operation and maintenance of indoor and/or outdoor recreational facilities.

Types of duties include but are not limited to the following: Operating a front desk operation or point of sale system. Maintains a reservation system.

Sets up recreation areas for scheduled activities; records attendance; ensures only authorized patrons use the facility and equipment; Ensures reserved areas are ready for use by customers; notifies participants of schedule changes; posts announcements of scheduled activities and answers inquiries about items, place, transportation, or other matters related to activities scheduled; Provides assistance to facilitate users by explaining function and features available.

Helps with group activities which require more than one staff monitor, performing specifically assigned tasks.

Arranges for equipment or tools, charging them out to participants, and checking them for condition on their return; ensures lockers are clean and operable.

Checks the established safety system of indoor and outdoor recreation facilities and areas, tools, and equipment; takes inventory of authorized recreation supplies and equipment; Provides manager with a list of re-order needs.

Decorates community or neighborhood centers or recreation centers for special events, activities, or parties; cleans facility and equipment as required.

As required, relays instruction from supervisor to co-workers and volunteers. Subject to an irregular tour of duty to include nights, weekends and holidays.

May operate government vehicles (Pick-ups, 15 passenger vans, carts) to transport supplies and/or passengers. Performs other related duties assigned.

Operation and maintenance of the Golf Course facility would also perform: Inputs sales, receives payment and other related transactions; prepares proper cash handling documents; Assists patrons in selecting golf pro shop merchandise and equipment.

Answer telephone inquiries and registers customers for lessons & tournaments.

Checks golfers in with the Golf Enterprise System (GES) point of sales system, patrols golf course to maintain acceptable pace of play and compliance with golf course policies.

As needed, performs daily upkeep of water containers and driving range operations.

Operation and maintenance of Outdoor Recreation programs facility would also perform: Open and close ODR facilities; Schedule reservations/collects payment for the Wingo Lodge, FamCamp sites, Crockett Cove and Dogwood cabins, pavilions, boat rentals, trailers, storage areas and scheduled activity classes.

Registers and assigns rooms to guests, makes and issues room keys, and may escort guests to rooms as needed. Ensures that only authorized patrons use government-sponsored quarters.

Calculates and posts charges to patrons' accounts and balances totals with control records. Accepts payment, makes change, and presents departing guests checkout statements.

Prepares and safeguards cash receipts, prepares daily cashier's report, daily activity report, and may prepare consolidated daily activity report. Maintains current checkout list.

Maintains and sells sundry sales items to patrons. Ensures housekeeping status of rooms is updated.

Sell tickets for Information, Ticket and Tours (ITT); take reservations and payment for trips and tours; Clean lodging rooms and common areas, bathhouses, cabins, recreational areas, and picks up trash from trash cans and surrounding areas.

Help with launching, cleaning and maintenance of boats and other marina rental items. Some tasks may require heavy lifting up to 100 lbs. May operate FamCamp Store during Holiday weekends.

Records and notifies appropriate person/organization of maintenance problems reported by guests. Ensure front desk area and lobby remains clean. Ensures that customer service is the first priority.

Assists in the training of newly appointed Recreation Aids in opening and closing checklists and other mandatory functions of the position.
