Full Job Description

The mission of the Defense Prisoner of War/Missing in Action (POW/MIA) Accounting Agency (DPAA) is to provide the fullest possible accounting for our missing personnel from our Nation's past conflicts to their families and our Nation.

DPAA personnel research, investigate, recover and identify remains of DoD personnel unaccounted for from World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Cold War, and the Iraq conflicts and Persian Gulf War.

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

You may qualify at the GS-12 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability in (1) Forensic Sciences in order to conduct staff studies of complex or unprecedented quality assurance problems, (2) The principles and practices of quality assurance in scientific laboratories and field operations, (3) Computer data basing, computer system administrative support, and LIMS, and (4) Formulating and recommending actions critical to improving the timeliness and quality of laboratory products.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Those selected for the Honolulu, HI duty location are eligible for COLA.

Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Assists in maintaining a highly responsive, effective and efficient Quality Assurance Program (QAP) in the DPAA Laboratory by effectively implementing QAP policies that promote extensive evaluation and facilitate direct management actions.

Supplements the controls necessary to accommodate local operating conditions. Completes internal control checklists for all functional areas within established time frames and reports results.

Serves as the lead in investigating the problems, such as leading a special study project or inter-agency working group, to achieve a common understanding of the causes, and in effecting a compromise or developing acceptable alternatives.

Accountable for the ongoing evaluation of the quality, effectiveness, efficiency and utility of laboratory operations, and outputs as they relate to external accreditations, Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) functions, and maintaining training program records.
