Summary

Full Job Description

You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (METROLOGY) in the Electrical Shop, Production Resources Department of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with quality principles and practices, calibration methodology, inspection and quality control processes.

Experience with NAVSEA requirements and operating procedures related to metrology and calibration functions.

Experience interpreting calibration requirements, technical data, product specifications, drawings, policy statements and other guidelines in order to identify the characteristics to ensure quality.

Experience leading failure analysis investigations to determine the cause of quality problems and recommend preventive actions.

  • You will analyze results of surveillances and issue reports that assess performance in critical processes and highlight significant problem areas for management action.
  • You will develop surveillance inspection plans based on NAVSEA-mandated and Shipyard-developed quality programs and recommend policy changes and program improvements to management.
  • You will serve as QA surveillance and quality assessment program manager of the Metrology and Calibration (METCAL) program.
  • You will investigate the causes of rework and recommend appropriate action to reduce or prevent recurrence of deficiencies or quality problems.
  • You will develop surveillance inspection plans based on NAVSEA-mandated and Shipyard-developed quality programs and recommend policy changes and program improvements to management.
