About the Position: Serve as a Quality Assurance Specialist ensuring the quality requirements for the products fabricated and assembled meet established guidelines.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Apply and managing the complete product quality evaluation program for items which are stored, fabricated, and processed at production assembly lines and warehousing facilities; Interpret and apply technical data such as blueprints, product drawing, specifications, and technical manual to prepare reports; and Analyze quality data to detect unsatisfactory trends in the inspection process.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M.

[remove LL.M., if unrelated] with a major study in quality assurance, statistics, mathematics, production management, industrial management, computer science, engineering, engineering technology, physical sciences, textiles, or other fields related to the position.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18.

Add the two percentages Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).

Major Duties:

  • Perform procedures review, evaluation, product verification inspection, and statistical analysis and evaluation to assure the quality level of items being produced.
  • Identify and recommend corrective action.
  • Conduct inspections, verifications, evaluations, and reviews of production plans and procedures.
  • Conduct briefings to management on progress and project milestones.
