Full Job Description

You will serve as a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST in the Public Affairs Office of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG SYSTEMS COMMAND PAC.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector 1) providing strategic advice to leadership on information when handling challenging or controversial issues impacting an organization; 2) utilizing various communication methods including drafting news releases, fact sheets, brochures, creating social media postings or other content that increases communication and understanding with the public; 3) developing programs and activities to establish, maintain and enhance public awareness of the command and enable mutually beneficial community relationships; 4) preparing and developing approved responses to routine and complex information requests and media inquiries, including providing clarification of agency programs and policies; 5) identifying and managing strategic relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to meet the organization's mission needs; 6) maintaining clear and accurate internal communication methods for the command.

  • You will formulate long-range plans and policies to enhance public and employee understanding, support and acceptance of Public Affairs programs and/or activities.
  • You will research and develop informational materials and communication campaigns for release of information to audiences through a variety of channels.
  • You will prepare or assemble information kits, edit informational materials drafted by component public affairs specialists on high profile issues, release videos, photographs, and/or feature stories to the news media, coordinate media interviews.
  • You will analyze external communication posture for NAVFAC leadership and senior staff to include all factors that could influence agency objectives, programs and policies directly or indirectly.
