This job involves providing mental health support to people in prison at a corrections center in Washington state, including assessments, treatment plans, and counseling to help them improve their well-being and social skills.
It's a full-time daytime role in a remote location on the Olympic Peninsula.
A good fit would be someone with a background in psychology or counseling who is comfortable working independently in a team and handling sensitive situations with incarcerated adults.

Mental Health Assessment and Treatment of Incarcerated IndividualsWork independently and cooperatively within the mental health team to provide mental health assessments and treatment of incarcerated individuals per the Offender Health Plan, Protocols, and DOC 03-446 (Rev.
10/31/22) Page 2 of 6 DOC 820.200 processes and procedures.
Intake of incarcerated individuals referred for mental health services.
This includes documentation of problem; background and treatment plan; obtaining Informed Consent for Mental Health Treatment; obtaining collateral information from within and outside DOC; referral to additional mental health services (e.g.
psychiatric); and follow-up as deemed appropriate.
Crisis interventionBe available for communication from DOC staff and/or incarcerated individuals regarding urgent or emergency mental health situations. Provides assessment of the crisis.
Plans and executes interventions including follow-up after resolution to assure stability is established. Includes communication with DOC staff involved with the patient, who have a “need to know”.
SupervisionProvide administrative and clinical supervision to Correctional Mental Health Counselor staff. Monitor leave usage and timecard submission.
Complete supervisory functions which include Completion of Position Descriptions, Performance and Development Plans and Performance and Development Plan Evaluations.
Monitor and assess clinical skills based on the Clinical Practice Parameters for the CMHC2.
This includes routine review of clinical documentation such as MHU/A’s, Treatment Plans, SRA’s and Mental Health Encounter Reports. Complete Supervisory Conference Forms documenting weekly supervision.
Trainings, meetings, and other duties as assignedParticipates in staff meetings for communication and coordination of mental health services.
This includes peer review/ quality assurance and CQIP projects.
Receives training as approved/ required by DOC, includes but is not limited to annual training to staff such as Suicide Prevention and LMS.
Participates in MDT’s, Mental Health Duty Officer, and may provide Annual In-Service Suicide Prevention instruction.
Provide informal education to staff and incarcerated individuals on topics related to the promotion of mental health within the prison and in the community.

(FOR RN POSITIONS) Salary is based on experience and is determined at the time a final offer of employment is made. The salary range listed in the job posting includes Steps A-U.
Step U is a longevity step and is typically gained six years after being assigned to Step T in your permanent salary range.
(FOR ALL OTHER NON WMS POSITIONS) Salary is based on experience and is determined at the time a final offer of employment is made. The salary range listed in the job posting includes Steps A-M.
Step M is a longevity step and is typically gained six years after being assigned to Step L in your permanent salary range.
