Torrance State Hospital is seeking a dedicated and caring Psychological Services Specialist to become a member of our team.

In this role, you will use your therapeutic experience to provide individual and group programming within an in-patient psychiatric hospital setting.

Requirements

In this position, you will contribute psychological information about patients to professional and non-professional staff to ensure that appropriate treatment and discharge plans can be made.

Your work will involve providing psychological profiles of patients to the treatment team by completing psychological evaluations.

You will maintain current psychological assessments by completing routine screening assessments after admission and reviewing the assessments annually to provide the psychological data necessary for the development treatment plans.

Some of your duties will include conducting group therapy sessions, meeting with patients weekly, and administering tests.

Additionally, you will attend monthly departmental meetings and serve departmental and hospital-wide committees

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Sunday - Thursday, with a 30-minute lunch. You will work every other Saturday.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • A master’s degree in a behavioral science, counseling education, rehabilitation, human development or a closely related field.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
