Full Job Description
This is a non-merit position with the Iowa Department of Corrections.
Candidates must follow the instructions in the "To Apply" section. Provides patient care through various delivery methods, including inpatient, outpatient, tele-mental health, consultation, or referral services, based on clinical and organizational needs.These services primarily focus on pharmacotherapy but may also incorporate evidence-based practices such as psychotherapies, delivered in group or individual formats to address the required level of treatment for each individual. Adheres to the DOC Preferred Product List as part of patient management.Conducts examinations and evaluations of individuals to diagnose psychiatric or medical conditions.
Upon completing the evaluation or diagnosis, plays a key role in developing interdisciplinary treatment plans, demonstrating team leadership, and collaborating with the team to determine the appropriate placement within the continuum of care and the specific treatments or programs to be provided.
Completes required medical records and reports to document patient treatments.
Prepares necessary legal and commitment reports, and is available to testify in court on behalf of the institution when required. Attends professional staff meetings and in-service training as needed to maintain appropriate licensure.

Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited school of medicine, completion of an internship program and licensure as a physician by the State of Iowa.
