Job Description

Summary

This job involves organizing and managing social events, ceremonies, and visits for high-profile guests at a Marine Corps base in San Diego, including handling budgets for official entertainment.

You'll coordinate everything from dinners and receptions to holiday celebrations and dignitary visits, while keeping detailed records and following military rules.

Full Job Description

You will serve as Protocol Assistant (OA) in the Administrative Section of the Protocol Office of Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, CA.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Coordinating and Overseeing a variety of social functions for receptions, dinners, and luncheons for distinguished visitor; Creating guest lists, menu, place cards and seating arrangements; Maintaining close association with dining establishments preparing special lunches and dinners for VIP and close conferees entertained by the Commanding General.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will coordinate and oversee a variety of social functions such as receptions, dinners and luncheons for distinguished visitors.
  • You will be responsible for the protocol aspects of special holiday ceremonies and activities for graduations, awards ceremonies, functions for local retired Marine Corps officers and Staff Non-Commissioned officers, Marine Corps Birthday Ball.
  • You will also be responsible for Battle Color Performance, Holiday Open House, Summer Concert, Winter Concert, Graduation Day Reviewing Stand attendees, and visits by foreign dignitaries, government officials, senior military and civilian personnel
  • You will serve as the Assistant Accountable Officer for the Commanding General's official representation funds.
  • You will maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation for all official representation funds (ORF) expenditures in accordance with Department of War, Department of the Navy, and Marine Corps fiscal regulations.
  • You will advise leadership on the appropriate use of ORF funds, and projected funding requirements.
  • You will maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) outlining required protocol procedures for foreign and domestic, military and civilian dignitaries.
  • You will establish and maintain historical events, files, to include command and personal correspondence, organizational and functional charts, historical records, and various manuals, directives, and reference guides.
