Full Job Description

The Prosthetic Clerk perform work in direct support of an administrative area such as: Prosthetic and Sensory aids Service (PSAS).

The Prosthetic Clerk will provide support from within an Administrative Office or from within a functional component such PSAS.

The Prosthetic Clerk will perform work in support of purchasing and or procurement of services, products, supplies, and/or equipment.

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/11/2026.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.

Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: knowledge of a body of standardized rules, procedures or operations requiring considerable training and experience to perform the full range of standard clerical assignments and resolve recurring problems.

OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience.

To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed 4 years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite.

This education was obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

(Transcripts Required) OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level.

You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond an Associates Degree.

Major Duties:

Purchasing Support Performs clerical level work to acquire supplies and services to meet the purchase or rental needs of PSAS.

Processes frequently purchased items under established contracts or agreements.

Performs clerical work in support of the care and treatment given to patients such as receiving patients or work administering in PSAS.

Performs clerical/assistant work in support of the care and treatment given to patients in PSAS, or other such unit of medical facility such as receiving patients and maintaining patient files in DHCP

Performs clerical duties related to patient care and treatment such as coordinating or recording patient activities, or preparing purchase orders for Prosthetics supplies.

Performs Miscellaneous Clerical Performs variety of miscellaneous duties in support of PSAS. Performs simple and routine support tasks.

Record the receipt and issuance of prosthetic equipment and stores them for use in the unit. Complete and routes requisition forms for replacement items. Receives, delivers, and distributes mail.

Returns used prosthetics equipment through the proper procedures. Procures for stock, issues prosthetics, and orthotic devices, medical equipment, sensory aids, and orthopedic footwear for patients.

Handles Applications and Prescriptions for Prosthetic Devices Handles applications and prescriptions for prosthetic devices.

Ensures the legal requirements governing eligibility and entitlement to prosthetic devices are met.

Renders decisions on client eligibility for prosthetic devices and reviews requests for prosthetic devices from a physician or a prescription. Counsels patients. Documents all determinations.

Certifies purchase of devices. Facilitates procurement of devices. Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 7:45am to 4;30pm Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
