  • Oversees daily operations and supervises staff performing property assessment and taxation work, ensuring compliance with RCWs, WACs, and County ordinances.
  • Understand, interpret, and apply County Ordinance, Revised Code of Washington (RCWs) and Washington Administrative Code (WACs) as applicable to assigned area of supervision.
  • Serves as a technical expert in designated areas (e.g., exemptions, personal property, foreclosure, mobile homes, customer service), resolving complex issues and supporting staff with escalated matters.
  • Reviews and approves eligibility determinations for applications, waivers, exemptions, and appeals; resolves escalated cases and ensures documentation aligns with statutory requirements.
  • Oversees the calculation and updating of property values and taxes, including adjustments, refunds, depreciation, and supplemental assessments.

    Ensures accuracy in property records, tax assessments, and customer correspondence, and supports the team with complex or escalated matters.

    In addition, oversee and review various correspondence, material, reports, and communications related to division operations.

  • Participate in departmental planning and maintain current procedures through collaboration with internal teams and external agencies.
  • Develops and implements procedures and standard operating protocols; monitors compliance and recommends policy changes to ensure alignment with legislation and operational needs.
  • Develop schedules, assign responsibilities, approve leave and overtime, and implement workflow strategies to meet service standards and timelines.
  • Establish expectations, conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and participate in recruitment, hiring, promotion, and disciplinary processes with management approval.
  • Investigates and documents suspected program fraud or misreporting, coordinates corrective actions, and works with legal counsel as needed.


Qualifications

  • Four (4) years of experience working with taxes and/or regulatory services.
  • Must include two (2) years in a supervisory or lead position.
