This role involves leading a team that handles billing, collecting, and managing over $7 billion in property taxes each year for King County, ensuring smooth operations and excellent customer service. The supervisor will oversee about 15 staff members, coach them to perform at their best, and drive improvements in processes using technology. A good fit would be an experienced leader who enjoys building supportive teams, understands legal rules around taxes, and is passionate about making public services better for taxpayers.
King County’s Finance and Business Operations Division (FBOD) is seeking an outstanding people leader to serve as the next Property Tax Supervisor. The Treasury Section is part of the larger FBOD portfolio of countywide services and is responsible for carrying out the treasury functions of King County government and over 100 special purpose districts.
Treasury is responsible for billing, collecting, depositing, reconciling, and distributing property tax payments, of over $7 billion dollars per year. These property tax payments fund key public services within the geographic boundaries of King County. Property tax staff interact with the taxpayers daily through phone, email, and in person at King County’s public-facing Customer Service Center where property tax and other payments are made in person.

Position Information:
King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely. The individual selected for this opportunity will join an innovative and progressive team that is redefining how we work as we transition to the department's hybrid environment. Employees will be provided with a County-issued laptop and must maintain a home workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work, remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours, and follow FBOD’s Hybrid and Remote Guidelines including on-camera participation during virtual video meetings.
