Summary

This job involves creating and managing schedules for engineering projects, tracking budgets and progress, and preparing reports to ensure everything stays on time and within cost limits for the U.S.

About the Position: This position is with the US Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, Programs and Project Management Division, Program Management Branch located in Galveston, TX.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1.) Managing a project schedule to include developing budgets for planning studies utilizing an automated project management system; AND 2.) Analyzing project management issues as they arise in order to provide recommendations on schedules and/or costs.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

Major Duties:

  • Perform duties in support of project management, control, coordination and execution of assigned projects.
  • Conduct analysis of project execution, measures performance and takes the necessary corrective actions to maintain agreed upon schedule and cost.
  • Collect project execution data from the project delivery team.
  • Review and analyze cost reports to assure that costs incurred are consistent with resource plans and progress recorded.
  • Utilize progress reports, baseline comparisons and other tools to identify performance variations in cost and schedule from the plan.
  • Run monthly report of scheduled/actual project expenditures/obligations for the current fiscal year (2101 Report) and milestone reports to indicate each project’s schedule, cost, future execution and milestones
  • Prepare a wide variety of project management reports for upward reporting, monthly project status reviews with customers, monthly PRB briefings, Command Management Review (CMR) data validation, and other project data calls as required.
  • Prepare project documents for the PM and researches regulations, directives, and identifies conflicts, non-compliance, and recommends potential solutions.
