This position will be assigned to work in the Transportation and Public Works Code Enforcement Division in Clayton, Missouri.

The Project Manager is responsible for performing electrical plan reviews of construction plans and calculations submitted under applications for electrical permits for compliance with Electrical Codes and other County regulations.

This position will be filled at the I, II or III level depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate. The annual starting salary will likely be as follows and will be based on experience and qualifications:

  • Competitive Average Salary: Typical starting salaries for each position level are:
    • Project Manager I: $55,536
    • Project Manager II $64,189
    • Project Manager III: $68,994




Requirements

  • Review and analyze plans and calculations for compliance with NFPA 70 National Electrical Code
  • Identify discrepancies and provides technical assistant to arrive at acceptable design solutions
  • Determines appropriate action for revisions if necessary
  • Provides assistance and information to the general public and various agencies
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Project Manager I: Each applicant must possess one of the following:

  • College Senior status in a Bachelor's Degree program in Electrical Engineering. Degree must be from an accredited college or university and conferred on or before agreed upon start date; if these parameters are not satisfied, any contingent offer of employment will be rescinded.

OR

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Preference may be given to applicants with related experience, knowledge of construction codes and a professional license or any equivalent combination of training and experience.


Project Manager II: meet the Project Manager I requirements in addition to the following:

  • Completed Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T.) Certificate from the Missouri Board of Engineers, Architects and Land Surveyors
OR
  • An Electrical Plans Examiner Certificate from the International Code Council (ICC) or other approved Third-Party Certification of Professional Competency based on written examination

OR

  • Engineering Intern Certificate resulting from the Fundamentals of Engineering (F.E.) Exam


Project Manager III: meet the Project Manager I and II requirements in addition to the following:

  • Registered Professional Engineer by the Missouri Board of Engineers and
  • Five years of practical experience

Additional Information

SELECTION AND APPOINTMENT: A selection committee will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant which will include recentness and appropriateness of the applicant's education and experience, answers to the supplemental questions, results of employment references investigated and any other appropriate information available.

The selection committee will admit to the interview only those persons who possess the most job-related qualifications and may establish admittance criteria beyond the minimum qualifications stated above. The interview will comprise 100% of the applicant's earned grade. A candidate must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview to be eligible for appointment. After initial interviews with the selected candidates are conducted, an email will be sent to the address on file with instructions on how to complete and submit a Conviction Questionnaire. Candidates have 3 days to complete the required questionnaire.

The five top ranking candidates, based on the final grade, will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority who will make the final decision.

All applicants conditionally offered a merit position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Screening will be performed by a reputable clinical laboratory. The cost of screening will be covered by the County.
