About the Position: The Program Support Specialist (Graduate Medical Education) collaborates with Program Directors, Graduate Medical Education leadership team, various government agencies, and other departments and treatment centers.

This position is located at Army Medical Center Madigan at Tacoma, Washington.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: ensuring a training program is compliant with all institutional and external accreditation requirements; carries out the operational and administrative duties pertinent to the conduct of training programs; and utilizing databases to prepare reports.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Medical Administration, Healthcare Administration, Healthcare Management or Medical Education.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

Major Duties:

  • Analyze graduate medical education (GME) programs for compliance with all Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Institutional and program-specific Review Committee (RC) requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records concerning trainee education as required by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)/Review Committee (RC).
  • Compose correspondence, reports, memoranda, agendas, schedules, contract and/or course materials for trainees and medical students.
  • Interpret regulations, policies, guidance, and course directives for efficiency.
  • Develop narrative and statistical information for use by the Program Directors and institutional Graduate Medical Leadership.
